L’expiation de Jésus-Christ rend le plan de rédemption possible.

LDM : Alma 42 : 9-11

<< C’est pourquoi, comme l’âme ne pouvait jamais mourir, et que la chute avait amené sur toute l’humanité une mort spirituelle aussi bien qu’une mort temporelle, c’est-à-dire qu’elle était retranchée de la présence du Seigneur, il était nécessaire que l’humanité fût rachetée de cette mort spirituelle. C’est pourquoi, comme elle était devenue charnelle, sensuelle et diabolique par nature, cet état ^probatoire devint pour elle un état pour se préparer ; il devint un état préparatoire.

Et maintenant, souviens-toi, mon fils, s’il n’y avait pas le plan de la rédemption (si on le mettait de côté), dès que les hommes seraient morts, leur âme aurait été misérable, étant retranchée de la présence du Seigneur>>.

<< Therefore, as the soul could never die, and the fall had brought upon all mankind a spiritual death as well as a temporal, that is, they were cut off from the presence of the Lord, it was expedient that mankind should be reclaimed from this spiritual death.

 Therefore, as they had become carnal, sensual, and devilish, by nature, this probationary state became a state for them to prepare; it became a preparatory state.

 And now remember, my son, if it were not for the plan of redemption, (laying it aside) as soon as they were dead their souls were miserable, being cut off from the presence of the Lord.
