Hélaman 9-10

Les signes et les miracles sont utiles mais insuffisants pour édifier une foi durable.

LDM : Helaman 14:3-4

3 Et voici, je vais vous donner ceci comme signe du moment de sa venue ; car voici, il y aura de grandes lumières dans le ciel, de sorte que pendant la nuit qui précédera sa venue, il n’y aura pas de ténèbres, de sorte qu’il semblera à l’homme qu’il fait jour.                           4 C’est pourquoi, il y aura un jour, et une nuit, et un jour, comme si c’était un seul jour et comme s’il n’y avait pas de nuit ; et cela vous sera donné comme signe ; car vous saurez que le soleil se lève et aussi qu’il se couche ; c’est pourquoi, vous saurez avec certitude qu’il y aura deux jours et une nuit ; néanmoins, la nuit ne sera pas assombrie ; et ce sera la nuit précédant sa naissance.

9 Après avoir entendu le roi, ils partirent. Et voici, l’étoile qu’ils avaient vue en Orient marchait devant eux jusqu’à ce qu’étant arrivée au-dessus du lieu où était le petit enfant, elle s’arrêta. 10 Quand ils aperçurent l’étoile, ils furent saisis d’une très grande joie. 11 Ils entrèrent dans la maison, virent le petit enfant avec Marie, sa mère, se prosternèrent et l’adorèrent ; ils ouvrirent ensuite leurs trésors, et lui offrirent en présent de l’or, de l’encens et de la myrrhe.

Signs and miracles are helpful but not sufficient to build enduring faith.

BoM Helaman 14 : 3-4

3 And behold, this will I give unto you for a sign at the time of his coming; for behold, there shall be great lights in heaven, insomuch that in the night before he cometh there shall be no darkness, insomuch that it shall appear unto man as if it was day.

4 Therefore, there shall be one day and a night and a day, as if it were one day and there were no night; and this shall be unto you for a sign; for ye shall know of the rising of the sun and also of its setting; therefore they shall know of a surety that there shall be two days and a night; nevertheless the night shall not be darkened; and it shall be the night before he is born.

Matthew 2 : 9-11

9 When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.

10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.

11 ¶ And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.
