« Néanmoins, le peuple s’endurcit le cœur, car il était entraîné par beaucoup de prêtres et de faux prophètes à édifier beaucoup d’Églises et à commettre toutes sortes d’iniquités. Et il frappait le peuple de Jésus ; mais le peuple de Jésus ne frappait pas en retour. Et ainsi, ils dégénérèrent, d’année en année, dans l’incrédulité et la méchanceté, jusqu’à ce que deux cent trente ans fussent passés.
Et alors, il arriva, cette année-là, oui, la deux cent trente et unième année, qu’il y eut une grande division parmi le peuple ».

« Je punirai le monde pour sa malice, Et les méchants pour leurs iniquités ; Je ferai cesser l’orgueil des hautains, Et j’abattrai l’arrogance des tyrans ».
Wickedness leads to division and sorrow
BOM : 4 Nephi 1:34-35
“Nevertheless, the people did harden their hearts, for they were led by many priests and false prophets to build up many churches, and to do all manner of iniquity. And they did smite upon the people of Jesus; but the people of Jesus did not smite again. And thus, they did dwindle in unbelief and wickedness, from year to year, even until two hundred and thirty years had passed away.
And now it came to pass in this year, yea, in the two hundred and thirty and first year, there was a great division among the people”.
