Doctrine et Alliances 2 ; Joseph Smith, Histoire 1:27-65 « LE CŒUR DES ENFANTS SE TOURNERA VERS LEURS PÈRES »

Cela faisait trois ans que Dieu le Père et son Fils, Jésus-Christ, étaient apparus à Joseph Smith dans le bosquet, mais Joseph n’avait pas reçu d’autres révélations depuis lors. Il commença à s’interroger sur sa situation vis-à-vis du Seigneur. Comme chacun de nous, il avait fait des erreurs, et il se sentait condamné par elles. Mais Dieu avait toujours une œuvre à lui faire accomplir. Et l’œuvre que Joseph a été appelé à faire est liée à ce que Dieu requiert de nous. Joseph allait faire paraître le Livre de Mormon ; que nous est-il demandé d’en faire ? Joseph allait recevoir les clés de la prêtrise pour tourner le cœur des enfants vers leurs pères ; comment tournons-nous notre cœur vers nos ancêtres ? Des prophéties ont été annoncées à Joseph, qui seraient bientôt accomplies ; que faisons-nous pour contribuer à leur accomplissement ? Quand nous participons à l’œuvre de Dieu, attendons-nous à rencontrer de l’opposition et même des persécutions, comme cela a été le cas pour le prophète, mais ayons aussi foi que le Seigneur fera de nous des instruments entre ses mains, tout comme il l’a fait pour Joseph.

“THE HEARTS OF THE CHILDREN SHALL TURN TO THEIR FATHERS”

It had been three years since God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, appeared to Joseph Smith in the grove, but Joseph hadn’t received any additional revelations since then. He began to wonder about his standing before the Lord. Like all of us, he had made mistakes, and he felt condemned by them. Yet God still had a work for him to do. And the work Joseph was called to do is connected to what God asks of us. Joseph would bring forth the Book of Mormon; what have we been asked to do with it? Joseph would receive priesthood keys to turn the hearts of the children to their fathers; how are we turning our hearts to our ancestors? Joseph was told of prophecies that would soon be fulfilled; what is our part in helping to fulfill them? When we take part in God’s work, we can expect to face opposition and even persecution, just as the Prophet did. But we can also have faith that the Lord will make us instruments in His hands, just as He did for Joseph.
