« POUR LE SALUT DE SION »

Quand le Seigneur commanda à Moïse de construire un tabernacle, il lui dit de « faire tout d’après le modèle qui [lui avait] été montré sur la montagne » (Hébreux 8:5 ; voir aussi Exode 25:8-9). Le tabernacle devait être le centre du camp d’Israël dans le désert (voir Nombres 2:1-2). Plus tard, Dieu commanda à Salomon et à son peuple de construire un temple d’après un modèle qu’il révéla (voir 1 Chroniques 28:12, 19). Quand le Seigneur rétablit la plénitude de l’Évangile, il commanda à Joseph Smith de construire des temples selon un modèle révélé. Il dit : « Que la maison soit bâtie, non à la manière du monde. Qu’elle soit bâtie de la manière que je montrerai » (Doctrine et Alliances 95:13-14 ; voir aussi 97:10). Comme le tabernacle dans le désert, le temple devait être un élément central dans Kirtland (voir Doctrine et Alliances 94:1). Aujourd’hui, on trouve des maisons du Seigneur dans le monde entier. Même si elles ne sont pas au centre de nos villes, elles peuvent être au centre de notre vie. Bien que chaque temple ait une apparence différente, en chacun d’eux nous apprenons le même modèle divin : un plan céleste pour nous ramener en la présence de Dieu. Des ordonnances sacrées et éternelles nous aident à édifier notre vie et à fortifier notre famille « non à la manière du monde » mais selon le modèle que Dieu nous montre. When the Lord commanded Moses to build a tabernacle, He told Moses to “make all things according to the pattern shewed to [him] in the mount” (Hebrews 8:5; see also Exodus 25:8–9). The tabernacle was to be the center of Israel’s wilderness camp (see Numbers 2:1–2). Later, God commanded Solomon and his people to build a temple according to a pattern He revealed (see 1 Chronicles 28:12, 19). As the Lord restored the fulness of the gospel, He commanded Joseph Smith to build temples according to a revealed pattern. “Let the house be built, not after the manner of the world,” the Lord declared. “Let it be built after the manner which I shall show” (Doctrine and Covenants 95:13–14; see also 97:10). Like the tabernacle in the wilderness, the temple was meant to be a central feature in Kirtland (see Doctrine and Covenants 94:1). Today houses of the Lord are found around the world. Even if they are not at the center of our cities, they can be central in our lives. Though each temple differs in appearance, within them we learn the same divine pattern—a heavenly plan to bring us back into the presence of God. Conforme el Señor restauró la plenitud del Evangelio, mandó a José Smith edificar templos de conformidad con un modelo revelado. “Edifíquese la casa, no según la manera del mundo”, declaró el Señor; “edificadla […] de acuerdo con el modelo que mostraré” (Doctrina y Convenios 95:13–14; véase también 97:10). Tal como el tabernáculo en el desierto, el templo tenía como fin ser un componente central de Kirtland (véase Doctrina y Convenios 94:1). En la actualidad, las Casas del Señor se encuentran alrededor del mundo. Aun cuando no se encuentren en el centro de nuestras ciudades, pueden ser elementos centrales de nuestra vida. Si bien cada templo difiere en apariencia, dentro de ellos aprendemos el mismo modelo divino: un plan celestial para llevarnos de regreso a la presencia de Dios.
